College Football 26 – Top 8 Intriguing Teams
We’ve done Madden, time to flip over to College Football. After a super successful first ever cycle of BL CFB, we are back for the 2nd cycle with a new and improved game.
A year of new schemes, rivalry games and recruiting wars before us, the first critical decision – what team to select. With a total of 136 total teams, there are bound to be a few fun programs that we’ll miss out on. After last years recruiting wars, the top teams will be targeted to get that starting leg up on the competition.
Admittedly I know a hell of a lot less about college football, but let’s have a little fun
Florida Gators
The team that brought us Tim Tebow. 30 minutes for the rest of our lives, boys. We got Florida fans in the league, they’ve got a prime recruiting position and some top tier rivalries.
DJ Lagway takes central focus under center with a couple of weapons to start out with. The weapons are sure to grow with the WRs that get grown in the sunshine state.
Ideal Fit: Connor. Sorry, Willie, gotta give em over to the other Florida fan. I would say Puff, but I don’t believe he will be joining us for the fun and festivities this year. Utah to Florida, sorry for the whiplash, Connor
Georgia Bulldogs
Talk about rivalries, we got a banger with our first two teams. One of the most successful programs in recent years, picking up the 2021 and 2022 National Championships. This success did not translate well into CFB25 success with the Georgia Bulldogs being passed from user to user, without any consistent winning along the way.
Carson Beck is gone and he was never really the answer they needed at QB after moving on from Stetson Bennett. It’s a team that’s always going to be able to recruit, to put an elite squad on the field. Now it just needs the user to guide them forward.
Ideal Fit: Lucky. He’s shown the ability to go deep, both in madden and CFB. Let’s swap coasts, give him the runway and see how far he can soar.
Nebraska Cornhuskers
One of the most storied programs in CFB history, Nebraska was only used for part of the CFB25 cycle, without any great success. They’ve got NFL failure, Matt Rhule, as HC and had up and down 2024, going 7-6.
Outside of the history, the exciting part is young QB Dylan Raiola. Son of former Lion, Dominic Raiola. Modelling himself after the greatest QB of all time Patrick Mahomes(right, Dan?). Can you lead Dylan and Nebraska to Mahomes esque success?
Ideal Fit: Allen. I need a guy that sling the rock. Allen can sling the rock.
Penn State Nittany Lions
Drew Allar is back. QB is set. Kaytron Allen is back. RB is set. Their WRs couldn’t catch a pass in their playoff loss, so they went and got 3 of em out the portal. This is a team readymade to win. You pick Penn State, you expect to win season 1.
This squad might be one of the most picked in all of team selection with their mixture of win now + future outlook.
Ideal Fit: Hero. An elite user with the ability to build and sustain a roster? Dynasty alert?
Marshall Thundering Herd
I hear you, all I’ve been naming is the top teams(and Florida). How about Marshall Thundering Herd. First of, great name. Second of, how about a team that went 10-3 and everyone left! We got a new Head Coach, new QBs, new WRs, new lineman, new defense. This is the team that said we gotta rebuild everything. Who doesn’t want to step into that.
It’s going to be tough and you have to be up to the challenge. Phil showed it with JMU last year. You build consistently, improve year on year and might just win a natty
Ideal Fit: Descius. You got Georgia last year and couldn’t do it. Build a team up from scratch. Choose Marshall.
Texas Longhorns
The little birdies are talking to me and they’re saying Texas might be the #1 selected team. You’ve got the largest state, with a team that can spread it’s wings wide to secure any prospect they desire. The wideouts all said bye bye and went to the NFL but it doesn’t matter in Texas. We got new ones coming thick and fast.
And, yeah, there’s a guy called Arch Manning too. Related to 2x SB champ Eli Manning and his less successful brother Peyton. You pick this team and success has to follow, that’s a lot of pressure.
Ideal Fit: Matt, DealingDebts. This man thrives under pressure, delivering high stakes poker, or delivering high stakes passes in critical moments.
UCLA Bruins
Beautiful jerseys in the heart of the Golden State. Transferred QB Nico Iamaleava is the main man under center, can you help revive his career?
A huge recruiting pool and a great rivalry with USC gives you a tremendous starting point for a program. Did I mention the beautiful jerseys?
Ideal Fit: Doom. Get my cutie in the cute jerseys.
Iowa Hawkeyes
Had to add them in, the team of the TE – George Kittle, Sam Laporta, TJ Hockenson, Dallas Clark. That’s gonna get me going! No one stand out yet but that’s going to be your job to recruit em!
Mark Gronowski was absolutely slinging the rock at South Dakota, winning two FCS Championships and a bunch of individual awards before transferring to Iowa. Can he cope with the upgraded talent?
Ideal Fit: Phil. Mr TE gets the team of TEs. More natty’s on the way?
